Using OathSteps

The OathSteps project (maintained by raychowdhury on GitHub) runs OathSteps. By using it you accept these terms and the Privacy notice. If you do not accept them, please do not use it.

What OathSteps is

OathSteps helps you study for the U.S. naturalization civics test and interview. It is a private study tool.

For questions about your own case, talk to a licensed immigration attorney or a DOJ-accredited representative. USCIS explains how to find one: Find legal services at USCIS (opens in a new tab).

Accuracy

The civics questions and answers come from lists published by USCIS. The test and its rules can change. Some answers depend on where you live or who holds an office. OathSteps does not guess those. Confirm them on an official site before your interview.

Your interview officer decides what is asked. Parts of OathSteps were written by us, not by USCIS, and may not have been reviewed by an expert. The Settings screen shows the review status of each part.

Your responsibilities

Accounts

An account is optional. You can delete it at any time in the app. We may suspend an account that harms the service or other people.

The service

OathSteps is provided as is. It may be unavailable, and it may change. Export your data from Settings if you want your own copy.

No promises, and limits on responsibility

We do not promise that OathSteps is complete, current or free of errors. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for the outcome of your application or interview, or for losses from relying on OathSteps. Nothing in these terms limits rights that the law does not allow to be limited.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app. Using OathSteps after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the place where the operator is based.
